Job Description

As an HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety of workplace environments, compliance with environmental standards, and the health of employees. Your primary objective will be to develop, implement, and maintain rigorous HSE systems that align with industry regulations and corporate policies. The ideal candidate should possess a thorough understanding of health and safety legislation and have hands-on experience in risk assessment and hazard identification. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to establish a culture of safety, educate staff on safe practices, and lead efforts toward continual improvement of safety standards. Your analytical skills will aid in the investigation of incidents and development of preventive measures to mitigate risks.


Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive HSE management systems and programs.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Facilitate risk assessments and hazard identification processes to mitigate workplace risks.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation related to HSE performance and compliance.
  • Collaborate with management to establish a cross-functional approach to safety initiatives.
  • Monitor environmental compliance programs and recommend improvements as needed.
  • Develop training materials and conduct safety inductions and training sessions for staff.
  • Ensure all safety equipment is functional and meets regulatory safety standards.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental practices.
  • Coordinate emergency response plans and facilitate regular drills and emergency scenarios.
  • Stay current with industry trends and regulatory changes to maintain effective compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience working in HSE roles within industrial settings.
  • Solid understanding of OSHA, EPA, and local safety regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Proven experience in conducting risk assessments and creating risk mitigation plans.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively convey safety information to all levels.
  • Certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or similar recognized HSE qualifications preferred.
