As the Head of Compliance, Compliance Officer, and Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) for Deriv Capital Contracts and Currencies L.L.C, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our firm operates with the highest standards of integrity and regulatory compliance. Based in Business Bay, you will oversee our full adherence to the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) regulatory framework, maintaining effective compliance programs and embedding a strong culture of governance across the organisation. This includes the design and implementation of robust anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorist financing (CTF) controls, continuous monitoring of regulatory developments, and proactive engagement with the SCA and other relevant regulatory bodies. The role demands strategic leadership, meticulous attention to regulatory detail, and the ability to guide the business in navigating complex compliance requirements while safeguarding against financial crimes and regulatory breaches.

Your challenges:

  • Monitor and Analyse Regulatory Trends in the UAE: Continuously track and evaluate regulatory developments and changes in key UAE markets, particularly those related to the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA), to support Deriv’s operational strategy and market expansion.
  • Develop and Maintain Compliance and AML Frameworks: Design, implement, and regularly update comprehensive regulatory compliance and anti-money laundering (AML) policies and procedures that align with the company’s business model and UAE regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure Ongoing Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of updates in UAE financial legislation and SCA regulations, ensuring the company maintains full compliance through timely adjustments to internal practices and policies.
  • Conduct Policy Reviews and Updates: Perform regular evaluations and revisions of AML and compliance policies to ensure they remain effective, relevant, and aligned with evolving legal obligations.
  • Manage Internal Reporting and External Filings: Serve as the primary point of contact for internal reports related to suspected money laundering activities, conducting necessary investigations and filing reports with relevant regulatory authorities as required.
  • Lead Risk Assessments and Internal Audits: Execute detailed compliance risk assessments and internal audits to identify gaps, implement appropriate controls, and resolve risks related to AML and regulatory obligations, including conflicts of interest.
  • Handle Regulatory Reporting and Board Communication: Prepare and submit all required reports to regulatory bodies, while also providing quarterly compliance updates and strategic insights to the Company’s Board of Directors.
  • Oversee Compliance Training, Tech Integration & Complaint Management: Deliver continuous AML and compliance training for staff, utilize AI-based tools to enhance risk management and regulatory reporting, and manage customer complaints related to the UAE license with professionalism and regulatory care.

Requirements:

  • A university degree in CAMS or a similar certification
  • 10+ years of experience in a compliance role in financial services with good understanding of Corporate law, AML Federal Degree laws, SCA Regulations, and other relevant legislation in the jurisdiction
  • Experience in dealing with regulatory bodies in the UAE, including but not limited to the SCA and the Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA)
  • Bring a high degree of integrity and maturity to your professional interactions
  • Possess excellent spoken and written English and Arabic communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience on derivatives, crypto and virtual assets
