Job Description

An Operations & Shipping Specialist plays a pivotal role in managing and optimizing the logistics and transportation processes in an organization. This professional is responsible for ensuring that products are shipped efficiently, on time, and at a reasonable cost. They play a critical role in the supply chain management system, ensuring that goods are delivered in a timely and secure manner. The specialist liaises with various departments to coordinate the movement of goods, oversees inventory levels, and ensures compliance with shipping regulations. With a keen eye for detail and excellent problem-solving skills, the Operations & Shipping Specialist is integral to maintaining the flow of products from the origin to the destination, ensuring customer satisfaction and enhancing operational efficiencies.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with suppliers and internal departments to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Monitor shipping schedules and adjust as necessary to accommodate changes.
  • Analyze and develop operational processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Oversee inventory levels and ensure accuracy in stock management systems.
  • Manage relationships with freight carriers and negotiate contracts to optimize costs.
  • Ensure compliance with all shipping regulations and customs requirements.
  • Resolve shipping issues, delays, and discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of shipping activities and prepare reports for management.
  • Implement best practices for packaging to ensure product safety during transit.
  • Collaborate with the customer service team to address customer inquiries and issues.
  • Manage returns and exchanges process to ensure customer satisfaction and efficiency.
  • Regularly review and analyze shipping data to identify areas for improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in operations or shipping within a supply chain environment.
  • Strong understanding of logistics software and inventory management systems.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, clients, and team members.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Knowledge of compliance standards and shipping regulations is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis.
