Gypsum Carpenter (225-707)

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Gypsum Carpenter to join our dynamic construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for precisely designing, cutting, shaping, and installing wooden structures and fixtures to support gypsum walls and ceilings. The role demands high precision and craftsmanship to ensure the smooth installation of drywall, commonly known as gypsum board or plasterboard, as well as other woodwork-related tasks. The ideal candidate should possess an intricate understanding of various tools, techniques, and safety guidelines pertinent to gypsum carpentry. With a keen eye for detail and an unyielding commitment to quality, the candidate will contribute to delivering exceptional and durable finishes in residential, commercial, and industrial projects.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and work from detailed blueprints, plans, and specifications accurately.
• Measure, cut, and shape wood, gypsum boards, and other materials precisely.
• Install gypsum wallboards, ensuring a level and seamless finish at all times.
• Construct and install framework and floor joists in preparation for gypsum board installation.
• Cut and fit drywall panels for custom spaces like arches, niches, and non-standard dimensions.
• Prepare drywall for finishing by ensuring surfaces are smooth, level, and clean.
• Utilize a range of hand and power tools safely and effectively at work sites.
• Repair existing framework or drywall to accommodate additional specifications or changes.
• Work closely with other construction professionals, including electricians and painters, to plan project stages.
• Ensure compliance with local building codes, regulations, and best practices.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
• Document all work completed and report any project-related issues promptly.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Gypsum Carpenter or similar role in construction.
• Solid understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction.
• Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools.
• Excellent knowledge of materials, including gypsum board and various types of lumber.
• Ability to read technical documents and drawings accurately.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and in a team.
• Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods.
• Reliable transportation and a willingness to travel to different job sites as required.
