Job Description

A Finance Assistant plays a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of an organization. This position involves managing daily financial operations, processing transactions, supporting budget development, and offering assistance with financial reporting. They are integral to the accounts payable and receivable operations, ensuring timely payments and collections while maintaining accurate financial records. A successful Finance Assistant should possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a working knowledge of accounting principles. Collaborating with team members and departments, the Finance Assistant ensures that the organization's financial operations run smoothly and efficiently. They work under the supervision of the finance manager or accountant to achieve financial goals and comply with regulations.


Responsibilities

  • Process and manage incoming invoices according to company policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports and statements accurately.
  • Maintain and update financial spreadsheets with data related to expenses and revenue.
  • Ensure all financial documentation is complete and submitted to the finance manager on time.
  • Review and reconcile accounts to ensure financial data consistency and accuracy.
  • Assist in the budget development process by gathering and analyzing relevant data.
  • Support payroll processes by verifying timesheets and coordinating with HR for discrepancies.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries related to financial transactions promptly.
  • Monitor cash flow and alert management of potential financial discrepancies or issues.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial operations are integrated and effective.
  • Assist with financial audits by preparing necessary documentation and reports.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial information at all times to protect company data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in a similar finance or accounting role within an organization.
  • Strong knowledge of financial software, accounting principles, and data management techniques.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in quantitative financial tasks.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial management and reporting software.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to financial issues.
