Job Description

An Estimation Engineer specializing in Instrumentation is a professional responsible for calculating cost estimates and preparing detailed project proposals for instrumentation engineering projects. This role involves analyzing technical drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate budget estimates that guide project planning and execution. The Estimation Engineer plays a crucial part in the bidding process, ensuring that proposed pricing is competitive while maintaining profitability. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of instrumentation systems, as well as the ability to conduct thorough market research and vendor assessments to procure materials at optimal prices. The Estimation Engineer must maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and technologies to ensure accurate and systematic cost estimation that aligns with project objectives and organizational demands.


Responsibilities

  • Analyze project requirements and prepare comprehensive estimation reports for instrumentation projects.
  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and other engineering documents to determine project scope.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary data for cost estimation.
  • Conduct site visits to assess project demands and gather additional information as needed.
  • Develop competitive pricing strategies for project proposals and bids.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of costs, including labor, materials, and overhead expenses.
  • Negotiate with suppliers and vendors to obtain favorable pricing and terms for materials and equipment.
  • Review and analyze historical data to improve accuracy of future projections and estimates.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations in all estimation processes.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to project managers and other stakeholders as required.
  • Continuously update estimation processes and tools to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Participate in the preparation of detailed tender submissions and revise estimates as necessary based on feedback.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience in cost estimation within the instrumentation or related engineering sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation systems, components, and relevant engineering protocols.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail for accurate cost estimation processes.
  • Experience with industry-standard estimation software and tools is beneficial.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents and engineering drawings thoroughly and precisely.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills to liaise with vendors and project stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Understanding of relevant industry regulations and compliance requirements is crucial.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a team environment to achieve project goals.
