Job Description

An Electrical Inspector plays a crucial role in ensuring that all electrical installations and systems within buildings and infrastructure comply with established standards and regulations. This position demands a high degree of technical expertise as it involves reviewing, testing, and evaluating electrical systems to ascertain safety, effectiveness, and compliance. The Electrical Inspector also needs to stay current with changes in electrical codes and advancements in technology to effectively assess and mediate potential risks. Moreover, the role involves working closely with electricians, engineers, and construction managers to address any design flaws and recommend modifications or improvements. This makes the position vital in ensuring not only code compliance but also public safety and functionality in electrical infrastructure.


Responsibilities

  • Inspect and evaluate all electrical systems and components for code compliance.
  • Review building plans and blueprints to ensure electrical compliance standards.
  • Conduct site inspections before and after installations to evaluate code adherence.
  • Identify and report any faulty or non-compliant electrical systems or components.
  • Consult with engineers and construction teams to rectify identified defects.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports documenting findings and recommended actions.
  • Stay updated on current electrical standards, codes, and industry best practices.
  • Train and mentor junior inspectors or electricians in code knowledge and inspection protocols.
  • Issue violation notices and follow up to ensure compliance resolution.
  • Attend training workshops to enhance inspection methods and knowledge.
  • Coordinate inspection schedules and communicate effectively with project stakeholders.
  • Perform safety audits to identify unsafe electrical practices and recommend improvements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Certification as an Electrical Inspector from a recognized authority.
  • Minimum of five years of practical experience in electrical installations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of national and local electrical codes and standards.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to spot deficiencies and non-compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective reporting and stakeholder interaction.
  • Proficiency in using specialized electrical inspection tools and software applications.
