Purpose
We’re looking for a sharp, confident, and execution-focused Director of Accounting to lead our accounting operations and elevate the function to its next level. This role oversees core areas including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. The ideal candidate brings a strong technical foundation, a bias for action, and the leadership skills to develop a high-performing team. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment and knows how to build scalable systems and processes while maintaining rigor and integrity.
Location Requirements: This role is based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the accounting function, including GL, AP, and AR, ensuring accurate and timely month-end and year-end closes.
- Manage and mentor a growing team of accountants and specialists across multiple functions and geographies.
- Own all internal and external financial reporting, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and company policies.
- Coordinate and manage the annual financial statement audit and all tax compliance requirements (sales tax, income tax, etc.).
- Drive continuous process improvements across the accounting function—streamline workflows, enhance controls, and reduce manual effort.
- Implement and refine accounting systems, reporting tools, and dashboards to scale with the business.
- Ensure timely reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts, including inventory, accruals, and fixed assets.
- Act as the accounting lead on cross-functional initiatives involving operations, legal, HR, and IT.
- Partner with FP&A and leadership to deliver accurate, actionable insights to support strategic decisions.
- Build and enforce accounting policies and procedures that scale with our evolving business model (including international).
- Serve as a trusted thought partner to the CFO on all matters of financial reporting, compliance, and risk.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting , Finance, or a related field; CPA required
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and experience with multi-entity consolidations
- Demonstrated success managing month-end close, audits, and tax compliance
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, or similar)
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing accounting teams
- Experience scaling accounting operations in a high-growth or fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with impeccable attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
- Experience with international accounting operations a plus
