Job Description

As a civil engineer, you will play a crucial role in the planning, design, and construction of infrastructure projects. You will work on a range of projects including roads, bridges, airports, water and sewage systems, and more. Utilizing your expertise in engineering principles, mathematics, and science, you will ensure the development and maintenance of safe, sustainable, and cost-effective infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for managing project timelines, budgets, and resources, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and standards. Collaboration with architects, contractors, and government organizations will be key to your role, as well as effectively communicating technical information to non-technical stakeholders.


Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, and oversee construction and maintenance of building structures and infrastructure.
  • Ensure projects comply with legal requirements, environmental regulations, and health and safety standards.
  • Conduct site investigations and assess potential construction risks and impacts.
  • Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, and other data to plan projects.
  • Prepare reports, proposals, and cost estimates for various infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, and other engineers to ensure successful project execution.
  • Manage the budget and resources efficiently to ensure timely project completion.
  • Perform hydraulic and hydrological, structural, or site condition analyses as required.
  • Maintain open communication with stakeholders to provide updates on project status and outcomes.
  • Supervise construction staff and ensure their work follows the project plan and safety protocols.
  • Review engineering designs and documentation to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Inspect project sites to monitor progress and enforce safety standards and quality assurance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Professional engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in civil engineering or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles, building codes, laws, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in engineering design software, such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar.
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical terms to laypersons.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience in conducting technical environmental impact assessments and risk analyses.
  • Willingness to work on-site and travel to project locations as necessary.
