CCTV Camera Technician

The CCTV Camera Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting surveillance camera systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. The role requires a solid understanding of video surveillance technologies, cabling, and network integration. This technician ensures security systems are installed correctly and operate efficiently to meet client needs.

Responsibilities:

• Install CCTV systems including cameras, recorders, and monitors.

• Perform site surveys and determine optimal camera placement.

• Run cables, configure hardware, and set up IP/networked systems.

• Test and commission new installations for functionality and coverage.

• Diagnose and repair malfunctioning surveillance equipment.

• Provide ongoing maintenance and support to existing systems.

• Configure remote viewing access and storage backups.

• Maintain accurate installation records and system documentation.

• Educate clients on system usage and troubleshooting basics.

• Adhere to safety codes, data protection laws, and installation standards.

Requirements:

• Diploma or certification in electronics, IT, or a related field.

• At least 2 years of experience in CCTV installation and maintenance.

• Strong knowledge of analog and IP-based surveillance systems.

• Proficiency in cabling, wiring standards, and equipment setup.

• Familiarity with DVRs, NVRs, routers, and network configurations.

• Basic understanding of electrical circuits and safety precautions.

• Ability to read schematics and technical drawings.

• Good problem-solving and time management skills.

• Physical fitness for working at heights or in tight spaces.
