Job Description

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented ARE - Tunnels to join our Construction Supervision team on a Metro Rail project. In this role you will get to oversee the construction of the tunnels and underground stations, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and project timelines.

What Youll Be Doing

• Report to the Resident Engineer and assist in supervising the construction of tunnel works and associated underground stations.
• Coordinate activities with other engineers and members of the construction supervision team.
• Assist the Resident Engineer in reviewing shop drawings, design proposals, method statements, and other activities, including correspondence related to the tunnel sections, and prepare replies for the Resident Engineers review.
• Facilitate coordination among various construction teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution and adherence to schedules.
• Possess a strong understanding of tunneling engineering principles and mechanism tunnel construction techniques.
• Maintain the daily diary and daily reports prepared by the inspectors.
• Monitor tunnel construction quality and ensure adherence to standards and specifications using TBM machine.
• Coordinate with contractor engineers on scheduling and resource allocation.
• Direct, assist, and monitor the performance of inspectors and surveyors as applicable.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of records.
• Achieve safety goals on the project and oversee the implementation of safety procedures.
• Prepare or assist in the preparation of weekly and monthly progress reports.
• Act positively and participate in all health and safety issues at the site, as required by the Resident Engineer and project safety representatives.
• Provide necessary on-site direction and assist the Resident Engineer in issuing site instructions regarding utilities works and associated items.
• Perform regular site inspections to assess progress, identify any issues, and ensure construction activities meet required standards.
• Ensure correctness and completeness of ‘as-built’ drawings within your line of work.
• Keep necessary records and as-built documentation, oversee the handing over of tunnel works to respective service authorities, and assist the contractor in obtaining necessary final clearance.
  
  
  

What Required Skills Youll Bring

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university is required.
• Minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in operation supervision on large diameter TBM tunnels.
• Strong understanding of bored tunnels using Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM).
• Knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles and practices.
• Ability to review and justify material submissions, analyze laboratory and technical reports, carry out acceptance sampling plans, testing, and quality measures, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
• Must be fully computer literate and able to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports, and use any project-specific engineering and construction-relevant software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with strong technical writing capabilities.
• Working knowledge of construction sequences and standard work procedures in the industry.
• Experience in working on at least one metro project involving a large TBM machine, from initiation to completion.
• Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations related to tunnel construction and infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in tunnel construction.

• Engineering consultancy experience within UAE/GCC is preferable.
