Job Description

The Assistant Credit Manager plays a pivotal role in the financial health of a company by supporting the Credit Manager in overseeing the credit granting process. This role involves evaluating the creditworthiness of potential customers, assisting in credit assessments, and managing the collections process to minimize bad debt. The Assistant Credit Manager must possess strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of financial principles to ensure the credit policies and procedures are effectively executed. This position also involves collaborating with sales, finance, and customer service departments to optimize credit and collections strategies. An Assistant Credit Manager is critical in maintaining positive customer relationships while protecting the company's credit health.


Responsibilities

  • Assist in evaluating the creditworthiness of potential and existing customers using financial analysis.
  • Support the Credit Manager in assessing and deciding on credit limits and terms for customers.
  • Manage and maintain accurate credit information records and databases.
  • Oversee and participate in the collections process to ensure timely payments from clients.
  • Work closely with the sales team to resolve credit-related issues swiftly and effectively.
  • Prepare regular reports on the status of outstanding accounts and credit limits.
  • Ensure compliance with credit policies and update procedures as needed in consultation with management.
  • Provide recommendations and insights based on credit evaluation results to mitigate risks.
  • Support negotiations with customers around payment plans and settlement of accounts.
  • Assist in developing strategies to improve cash flow and decrease bad debts.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service to uphold company’s reputation and client satisfaction.
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance credit management skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in credit management or related financial roles, preferably two years or more.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in financial management software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and strategic approach to managing risk.
