Job Description

A Typist & PR Officer plays a dual role in managing both administrative paperwork and public relations efforts for an organization. This professional is responsible for providing typing and clerical support while also ensuring effective communication between the company and its stakeholders. A key element of their role is to type and organize documents while maintaining a strong attention to detail. On the public relations side, they are tasked with crafting press releases, engaging with the media, and managing the public perception of the organization. They must possess excellent communication and organizational skills, with the capability to multitask and manage deadlines effectively. Their role is essential in ensuring that the organization’s operations run smoothly and that the public image remains positive and compelling.


Responsibilities

  • Type, prepare, and distribute correspondence, reports, and documents accurately and timely.
  • Support the PR team in crafting press releases and communication materials.
  • Manage sensitive information with confidentiality and process documents appropriately.
  • Coordinate appointments, meetings, and schedules to support organizational workflow.
  • Maintain and update company databases and filing systems with precision.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with media representatives and influencers.
  • Assist in organizing promotional events and campaigns as needed.
  • Respond to inquiries from the media, individuals, and other organizations effectively.
  • Proofread and edit press releases and other communication materials for accuracy.
  • Use office equipment such as photocopiers, printers, and scanners competently.
  • Support in drafting content for social media and other digital platforms.
  • Participate in team meetings, providing written reports and updates as necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred in a relevant field.
  • Proven experience as a typist or in a public relations assistant role.
  • Excellent grasp of the English language with superior typing speeds.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Proficiency with office software such as MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Exceptional communication skills in both written and verbal forms.
  • Attention to detail with an aptitude for proofreading and editing documents.
