Job Description

The role of a Structure & Composite Technician in Base Maintenance is integral to ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of aircraft structures and components. You will work within a team of skilled technicians and engineers, focusing on maintaining, repairing, and in some cases, modifying aircraft structure and composite parts during base maintenance. Your role requires a strong understanding of aircraft structures, composite materials, techniques for repair, and a commitment to meeting top safety and regulatory standards. You will collaborate with other departments to ensure that all aircraft leaving base maintenance meet the highest standards of quality and airworthiness—contributing to the seamless operation of aviation services.


Responsibilities

  • Perform inspection and assessment of aircraft composite structures for damage or wear.
  • Execute repairs and modifications on structural components adhering to industry specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to develop solutions for non-standard repairs and improvements.
  • Utilize various non-destructive testing methods to evaluate the integrity of aircraft structures.
  • Document all maintenance activities in accordance with aviation regulatory and company requirements.
  • Follow all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment as necessary during tasks.
  • Maintain and operate tools and machinery used in composite repair and fabrication work.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant aviation regulatory standards and guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding work progress and issues.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior technicians or apprentices in repair techniques.
  • Participate in ongoing training programs to remain current in technical knowledge and skills.
  • Support quality assurance initiatives by participating in audits and process improvements.

Requirements

  • A diploma or certification in aircraft maintenance engineering or related field is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in aircraft structural and composite maintenance work.
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft composite materials and repair techniques is essential.
  • Familiarity with aviation safety regulations and industry standards must be demonstrated.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and engineering drawings confidently.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines are needed.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work consistently.
