Job Description

The role of a Stewarding Supervisor is integral to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization within the food and beverage operations of a hotel, restaurant, or catering facility. This position requires a proactive individual who can lead a team of stewards in ensuring that all kitchen and service areas are tidy, sanitary, and in compliance with health and safety regulations. The Stewarding Supervisor oversees dishwashing operations, maintenance of kitchen equipment, inventory management of cleaning supplies, and waste management. A successful candidate will possess excellent organizational and communication skills, be adept at problem-solving, and demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility to uphold the establishment's reputation for quality service. In addition, the supervisor must interact effectively with kitchen staff, ensuring smooth workflow and handling responsibilities with a hands-on approach. This position is perfect for someone with extensive knowledge of kitchen operations and a passion for maintaining safe and efficient environments.


Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of stewards to maintain cleanliness and order.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all kitchen areas.
  • Oversee the dishwashing operations to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with chefs and kitchen staff to manage kitchen equipment cleaning.
  • Monitor and manage inventory of cleaning supplies and reorder as needed.
  • Implement waste management procedures and promote sustainability practices.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with sanitation standards.
  • Provide training to new hires and ongoing support to existing staff members.
  • Handle performance evaluations and disciplinary actions as necessary.
  • Liaise with management to report issues and suggest improvements in operations.
  • Schedule and allocate duties to stewards according to workload requirements.
  • Maintain communication with vendors for repairs and equipment maintenance.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within a food service environment.
  • Strong knowledge of kitchen sanitation and health and safety regulations.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with diverse kitchen staff.
  • Ability to handle pressure and maintain composure in a fast-paced setting.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficient in inventory management and basic computer applications.
