Job Description

As a Safety Officer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our workplace adheres to all relevant health and safety regulations. Your primary responsibility will be to develop, implement, and oversee health and safety programs and protocols to ensure a safe working environment. You will conduct regular inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and provide recommendations to mitigate them. As an expert in occupational health and safety, your goal is to reduce workplace injuries, incidents, and ensure compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines. Your role is essential in fostering a culture of safety and promoting awareness among staff and management. In addition, you will be responsible for accident investigations and preparing reports and statistics for continuous improvement and policy formulation.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement safety policies that ensure regulatory compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazardous practices.
  • Coordinate and lead safety training sessions for employees and management.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents to determine causes and prevent reoccurrence.
  • Prepare comprehensive safety reports with actionable insights for management review.
  • Collaborate with department heads to ensure safety procedures are integrated into daily operations.
  • Equip employees with personal protective equipment and ensure its correct use.
  • Maintain updated records of safety inspections, incidents, and near-misses.
  • Advise on best practices for maintaining a healthful and safe work environment.
  • Monitor compliance with safety standards and propose improvements where necessary.
  • Reinforce a culture of safety through awareness campaigns and regular communication.
  • Participate in safety committee meetings and coordinate activities and follow-ups.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field preferred.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent qualification is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 3 years prior experience in a safety officer or related role.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards and health and safety regulations.
  • Proven ability to conduct risk assessments and incident investigations effectively.
  • Strong communication skills to conduct training and prepare detailed reports.
  • Proficiency in using safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
