Position : Range Controller

Overview of the Role

The Range Controller is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Range Control function, under the direction of the Range Lead.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities :

  • Communicate with all test leads to authorise activities to start and finish
  • Operate the Land, Air and Maritime communications systems to provide Range coordination instructions
  • Liaise with Facilities Department or safety to ensure that X-range facilities /repair work is conducted safely in the X-range with the minimum disruption to Operations.
  • Liaise with Operation, Technical Engineering, Logistics Services teams to fulfil day to day activities.
  • Act as the coordinator of Emergency Services for Incident/Accidents at the X-range
  • Providing a concise and accurate written and/or verbal brief to the X-range Management on the details of any Incident/Accidents or other major occurrences that could affect operations at the X-range
  • Communicate with Remaya employees and contractors to ensure safe movement on the Range
  • Monitor all range assets using the equipment in Range Control
  • Establish test templates and entry/exit points for all tests
  • Complete Emergency Response Checklist when requested by the relevant department.
  • Work with the security manager to ensure that sentries are posted at established test entry points
  • Monitor all air and maritime assets using radar and other tracking/location equipment present at the range
  • Ensure that the movement of all contractors and support personnel is controlled in a safe way
  • Act as a mentor to new Range control employees and provide On Job Training. OJT is to be at the appropriate level to ensure that the new post holder can carry out all the duties required of a range controller, safely and professionally.
  • Test reporting is achieved within schedule.
  • Any other reasonable request or work task as allocated by the Line Manager or Senior Management.
  • Completeness and availability of records
  • Quality of contribution. Minimized downtime. Minimised re-work.
  • Action plan is well communicated to Range control Team
  • Cause of failure has been identified and addressed.
