Job Description

A Procurement Engineer plays a pivotal role in the planning, execution, and management of purchasing operations within an organization. This position is crucial in ensuring that an organization obtains high-quality materials and services at the best possible price, thereby directly affecting profitability and performance. The Procurement Engineer collaborates with various departments such as production, quality assurance, and project management to assess material requirements and establish strong relationships with suppliers. They must possess excellent analytical skills to evaluate market conditions and negotiate contracts effectively. A strong understanding of engineering processes, cost management, and supplier performance is essential for success in this role. The Procurement Engineer must also be adept at risk management and possess the capability to foresee potential supply chain disruptions and mitigate them proactively.


Responsibilities

  • Analyze and review material requirements and specifications to support production needs.
  • Research, identify, and recruit prospective suppliers and maintain a robust vendor database.
  • Negotiate contracts, manage supplier agreements, and ensure compliance with organizational policies.
  • Assess supplier performance, audit suppliers, and work on process improvements continuously.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and quality teams to ensure material quality and reliability.
  • Develop cost-saving strategies without compromising on quality and delivery timelines.
  • Prepare and submit detailed procurement reports to senior management on a regular basis.
  • Conduct market analysis to stay updated with industry trends and procurement strategies.
  • Work on risk management strategies to counteract potential supply chain disruptions.
  • Facilitate timely delivery by tracking the progress of orders and coordinating logistics.
  • Provide support for inventory management, including updates on stock levels and lead times.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, environmental, and safety regulations in procurement practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field is required.
  • Minimum of three years experience in procurement or supply chain operations.
  • Proficient in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of successful contract negotiations.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to handle complex procurement challenges.
