The MEP Technician plays a vital role in the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems within commercial and residential properties. This position requires an individual who possesses a keen understanding of technical schematics and blueprints and has a hands-on approach to problem-solving. An MEP Technician is responsible for ensuring that all systems are functioning efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate is skilled in troubleshooting, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. They also maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and safety regulations. With a strong attention to detail, the MEP Technician contributes significantly to the operational success of any building ensuring occupant comfort and safety while optimizing system performance.
Responsibilities
Install and maintain mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems within project specifications.
Perform regular inspections on systems to ensure compliance with safety standards.
Read and interpret technical blueprints and schematics to guide installations.
Identify system malfunctions and troubleshoot complex issues efficiently.
Coordinate with engineers and architects to ensure system compatibility.
Conduct tests and evaluations to ensure system reliability and efficiency.
Prepare and maintain accurate records detailing system performance and repairs.
Communicate effectively with building management regarding maintenance schedules and updates.
Implement energy-saving measures and recommend upgrades for system efficiency.
Ensure adherence to all relevant safety and building codes consistently.
Calibrate and adjust system controls for optimal performance and safety.
Assist in the procurement of supplies and equipment necessary for system maintenance.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training preferred for candidates.
Minimum of three years’ experience as an MEP Technician or similar role.
Proficient in reading and understanding technical diagrams and blueprints.
Strong understanding of MEP systems including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on safety and efficiency.
Ability to work independently or as part of a diverse team environment.
Certification or licensing in MEP trade specialties is highly advantageous.
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients and team members.
Willingness to stay updated with industry trends and regulatory changes.
Proficiency with maintenance and diagnostic tools and equipment.
Ability to work in various environments, including outdoor and elevated spaces.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and maintain documentation.
