An Estimation Engineer plays a pivotal role in the successful planning and execution of projects by developing accurate cost estimates and project timelines. This position involves in-depth analysis of various project components, including materials, labor, and equipment, to formulate precise cost forecasts. The Estimation Engineer collaborates closely with procurement teams, project managers, and field engineers to ensure that project budgets are adhered to and that any potential cost overruns are identified early. They are responsible for conducting detailed risk assessments and proposing cost-effective solutions that align with the company’s quality standards and project objectives. With a strong foundation in engineering principles and financial acumen, the Estimation Engineer ensures that project bids are competitive and realistic, guiding the organization towards successful project bids and execution.
Responsibilities
Develop and prepare accurate cost estimates for various engineering projects.
Analyze project specifications and documentation to determine project needs.
Collaborate with project managers to align estimates with project goals and timelines.
Review engineering drawings and blueprints to assess material requirements.
Conduct thorough market research to secure competitive pricing for materials.
Evaluate labor costs and productivity rates to develop reliable project budgets.
Perform risk analysis to identify potential areas of cost escalation.
Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate cost information.
Assist in the preparation of bid proposals with detailed financial insight.
Present estimation findings to senior management and project stakeholders.
Maintain up-to-date records of past project costs for future reference.
Continuously refine estimation techniques to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or related field.
Minimum of three years’ experience in construction or engineering estimation.
Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
Proficiency in estimation software and tools such as CostX or similar.
Excellent communication skills for efficient collaboration across teams.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight project deadlines consistently.
In-depth knowledge of project management principles and cost control methods.
