Job Description

The position of an MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) Technician is crucial in ensuring the effective maintenance and operation of building infrastructure systems. MEP Technicians are responsible for the installation, repair, and preservation of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing aspects of a facility. These professionals work in various environments, including residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. MEP Technicians must possess a comprehensive understanding of engineering principles and a practical approach to troubleshooting. The roles demand technical expertise, the ability to read and interpret blueprints, and a commitment to maintaining safety standards. The MEP Technician plays a pivotal role in ensuring that building systems operate efficiently and that any disruptions are addressed swiftly to minimize impact on occupants and operations.


Responsibilities

  • Perform regular inspection and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to HVAC systems promptly and efficiently.
  • Install and maintain wiring and control systems in line with safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with other technicians to ensure seamless repair service across systems.
  • Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repair work undertaken at the facility.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to execute repair and installation projects effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding MEP systems.
  • Conduct routine checks of equipment to preempt potential malfunctions or breakdowns.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans for MEP-related issues.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior technicians and apprentices.
  • Advise on energy-saving practices and help implement eco-friendly solutions.
  • Participate in the design and planning phases of new construction projects when required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; technical certifications are preferred.
  • At least three years of hands-on experience in MEP systems maintenance and repair.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and components.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical blueprints and schematics effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex system issues.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with team members and clients effectively.
  • Valid technical licenses or certifications specific to MEP systems are advantageous.
