Job Description

An IT Support Technician is a crucial team member responsible for providing technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, or software. They are often the first point of contact for employees or clients with IT-related concerns. Their role involves troubleshooting various technical issues, ensuring the optimal performance of workstations, and maintaining network systems. An IT Support Technician must possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills to effectively diagnose issues and implement solutions, often under tight deadlines. They are also responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining company software and hardware, monitoring system performance, and ensuring data backup. Being in a dynamically evolving field, IT Support Technicians need to continuously update their skills and knowledge to keep up with technological advancements.


Responsibilities

  • Provide timely and effective technical support to end users onsite and remotely.
  • Install and configure computer hardware, operating systems, and software applications.
  • Monitor and maintain computer systems and networks to ensure optimal performance.
  • Assist employees in resolving hardware and software issues efficiently and promptly.
  • Document and log detailed information about technical issues and solutions provided.
  • Conduct periodic maintenance and upgrades on hardware and software systems.
  • Develop and provide user training and ensure understanding of new technologies.
  • Troubleshoot system and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware issues.
  • Manage inventory of IT assets and maintain accurate records of hardware and software.
  • Set up accounts for new users and provide them with necessary login credentials.
  • Ensure the security and privacy of computer systems to protect sensitive information.
  • Collaborate with other IT personnel on projects and problem-solving efforts.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Proven experience in an IT support or helpdesk technician role is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of computer systems, networks, hardware, and software applications.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively assist and instruct end users.
  • Familiarity with remote desktop applications and helpdesk software tools.
  • Ability and willingness to continuously learn new technologies and methodologies.
