Job Description

As an Inventory Clerk in a pharmacy, you will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining inventory levels to ensure timely and accurate availability of necessary pharmaceutical supplies. This critical role involves managing stock within the pharmacy, utilizing efficient tracking systems to maintain order and balance, and communicating effectively with suppliers to reorder low-stock items. You will work closely with pharmacists and support staff to ensure the safe storage and handling of drugs, adhering to all relevant pharmaceutical regulations and safety standards. By keeping meticulous records, you will help minimize waste and reduce the risk of medication shortages, contributing to superior patient care and the seamless operation of the pharmacy.


Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels of pharmaceuticals and related products.
  • Accurately input and update inventory records within the pharmacy's database.
  • Coordinate with pharmacy staff to ensure stock levels meet patient demand.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits to verify stock accuracy and integrity.
  • Reorder drugs and supplies by liaising effectively with suppliers and vendors.
  • Receive, unpack, and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy and damage.
  • Ensure proper storage conditions are maintained for all pharmaceutical products.
  • Implement inventory control protocols to prevent loss and wastage.
  • Assist with the transition of expired products for proper disposal.
  • Utilize pharmacy information systems for efficient inventory management.
  • Communicate inventory discrepancies or issues to management promptly.
  • Support pharmacy operations by preparing reports on stock levels and usage patterns.


Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; related coursework beneficial.
  • Proven experience in inventory control, preferably in a pharmacy setting.
  • Strong organizational skills with acute attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical products and inventory management systems.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with pharmacy personnel.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and moving inventory as required.
  • Knowledge of safety and regulatory standards within the pharmaceutical industry.
