JOB DESCRIPTION
The HSE Advisor supports the HSE Team in developing, implementing, and maintaining the company’s Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, systems, and procedures. The role ensures compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards, while promoting a proactive safety culture across the organization. The advisor provides HSE training, leads incident investigations, monitors performance metrics, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, and environmental performance company-wide.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with company Security, Compliance, and HSE policies, as well as local and international regulations and industry standards.
- Promote a strong safety culture that prioritizes health, safety, and environmental protection as core organizational values.
- Deliver HSE training and guidance to employees on emergency response, proper use of PPE, and safe handling of hazardous materials.
- Conduct and support incident investigations, perform root cause and failure analyses, and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented effectively.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on HSE performance metrics, identifying trends and recommending improvement actions.
- Develop, implement, and maintain HSE management systems, procedures, and training materials aligned with company goals and best practices.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to verify compliance and identify potential hazards.
- Collaborate with operational teams to maintain service quality and ensure HSE considerations are integrated into daily business activities.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, preparing clear and concise reports, presentations, and HSE updates.
- Demonstrate visible leadership and actively engage with the workforce to reinforce safety behaviors and HSE awareness.
- Manage assigned HSE-related budgets responsibly and ensure expenses comply with company financial policies.
- Take ownership of continuous professional development by completing required training and maintaining relevant certifications.
Skills
- Strong technical expertise in Health & Safety and/or Environmental management.
- Experience in incident management, investigation, and root cause analysis.
- Ability to interpret and analyze reliability and statistical data to improve performance.
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and influencing skills across all organizational levels.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Effective organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
- Knowledge of enterprise-wide management systems and HSE reporting tools.
- Sound understanding of local and international HSE regulations and compliance frameworks.
- Strong presentation and documentation skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated leadership, especially in field or workshop environments.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multi-functional teams.
Qualifications
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant industry or regulatory experience.
- Experience conducting HSE audits and inspections.
- Proven track record in implementing and maintaining HSE management systems.
Preferred
- Externally Qualified Investigator through formal training (e.g., FMEAC / TapRoot).
- Professionally recognized HSE certification.
- Externally Certified ISO / Lead Auditor qualification.
- Familiarity with enterprise-level management systems and risk management processes.
- Experience in interpreting and applying ISO 45001, ISO 14001, or similar standards.
