Job Description

The Estimator and Cost Controller is a critical role within any organization, responsible for ensuring that projects are delivered within budget and forecasting the financial requirements accurately. This position demands a keen eye for detail, as well as the ability to analyze data to predict the financial performance and viability of projects. As an Estimator and Cost Controller, you will be responsible for evaluating project plans, estimating the costs involved, and monitoring budgets throughout the project lifecycle. This role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, and procurement teams, to ensure financial targets are met and risks are mitigated. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, the ability to work under pressure, and excellent communication capabilities to effectively convey complex financial information.


Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed cost estimates based on project specifications and industry standards.
  • Analyze project plans and specifications to determine financial viability and risk factors.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to assess project scope and cost implications.
  • Prepare and present budget reports and forecasts to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Conduct cost analysis and assess the financial impact of project changes and delays.
  • Maintain and update costing databases with the latest market pricing and labor costs.
  • Ensure that all project budgeting activities comply with company policies and regulations.
  • Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and efficiencies throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor and report on project expenditures to maintain alignment with approved budgets.
  • Provide guidance on financial best practices and recommend cost management strategies.
  • Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions are made.
  • Assist in the preparation of tender documents and contractual agreements with vendors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in cost estimation and financial planning in a similar industry.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to handle complex data sets effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills to present financial information clearly to stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in cost estimating software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
