Electrical Engineer (Oil and Gas)

The Electrical Engineer (Oil and Gas) is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of electrical systems within upstream, midstream, or downstream oil and gas operations. This role demands in-depth technical knowledge, field experience, and the ability to ensure compliance with industry safety and engineering standards. The ideal candidate will be proactive in ensuring operational continuity while optimizing energy usage and supporting project teams across development and maintenance phases.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement electrical systems for oil and gas processing plants and facilities.

• Conduct feasibility studies and technical analysis for new electrical installations.

• Ensure compliance with industry regulations, codes, and safety standards (IEC, NEC, API, ATEX).

• Manage electrical power distribution systems, switchgear, and control systems.

• Provide technical support for commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical equipment.

• Supervise electrical contractors during installation and maintenance activities.

• Perform risk assessments and failure analysis for electrical systems.

• Review and approve electrical drawings, P&IDs, and schematics.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams and third-party vendors.

• Prepare technical documentation, reports, and project updates.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

• Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical engineering within the oil and gas industry.

• Strong knowledge of hazardous area classifications and explosion-proof equipment.

• Familiarity with SCADA, PLCs, and electrical system modeling software.

• Experience with electrical safety, grounding, and arc flash studies.

• Excellent analytical and project management skills.

• Ability to work in onshore/offshore and remote site environments.

• Strong communication and stakeholder coordination abilities.

• Willingness to travel and work under rotational or extended site assignments.
