The Technical Lead - MEP Design is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) design elements of various projects. In this role, you will work closely with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of MEP systems with architectural and structural components, advocating for design excellence and innovation. As the point of contact for MEP considerations, the Technical Lead will drive the project's technical agenda, influence design strategies, and ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices. You will also mentor junior engineers and designers, promoting a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment within the team. Taking ownership of technical outcomes, the Technical Lead will provide high-level expertise in resolving complex design challenges, while ensuring project timelines and budgets are met.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and oversee integrated mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design elements within projects.
Collaborate with architects and structural engineers to ensure MEP designs align with overall project goals.
Lead regular design meetings, providing expert guidance on MEP-related issues and innovations.
Review and approve design documents, drawings, and specifications for construction readiness.
Enhance design efficiencies by initiating sustainable practices in MEP systems planning.
Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations throughout the design process.
Lead efforts in improving design processes, establishing a high benchmark for quality.
Provide clients with clear, concise technical presentations and reports regarding MEP strategies.
Stay updated with industry trends, innovations, and technology advancements influencing MEP design.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering fields.
Minimum 8 years of professional experience in MEP design and coordination roles.
Proven experience in leading design teams on large-scale engineering projects.
Strong proficiency with leading design software and tools in the industry.
In-depth knowledge of industry standards, building codes, and regulatory requirements.
Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to offer innovative solutions.
Excellent communication and project management skills to liaise effectively with stakeholders.
Proven track record of successful project delivery within budget and on schedule.
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple complex projects simultaneously.
Certification in Professional Engineering (PE) or related credentials preferred.
