Position Overview: As an Electrical Engineer in our Energy team, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing and implementing control system strategies and systems for a variety of power generation, transmission, and distribution projects. Your deep system and network understanding will enable you to assess project feasibility, develop designs and deliver the control system solutions needed to redefine the energy landscape, revolutionizing how we harness, distribute, and manage energy.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to conceptualize, design, and deliver control systems solutions for complex power projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
Conduct detailed analyses of power systems and associated control systems, identifying opportunities for optimization, stability enhancement, and operational efficiency.
Develop and implement advanced control algorithms, including model-based and adaptive control techniques, to enhance the performance and reliability of power systems.
Undertake system integration tasks, interfacing control systems with various hardware and software components, such as PLCs, SCADA systems, and remote monitoring solutions.
Perform simulation and testing of control strategies using industry-standard software tools, verifying system performance under various operating conditions and disturbances.
Collaborate with clients, project managers, and stakeholders to provide technical expertise and guidance throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring successful project delivery and customer satisfaction.
Stay current with emerging trends, technologies, and regulations within the power systems and control systems engineering fields, contributing to the continuous improvement of GHDs technical capabilities.
Contribute to the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and proposals, effectively communicating complex engineering concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Qualifications:
Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering or a related field.
Proven experience in designing and implementing control systems for power generation, transmission and distribution projects.
Strong proficiency in control system design, simulation, and optimization using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, DIgSILENT PowerFactory or similar software.
Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to power systems and control systems engineering (e.g., IEC 61850, IEEE standards).
Experience with programming languages commonly used in control systems such as C/C++, Python, or PLC programming languages.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex technical challenges related to power systems and control systems.
Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines and communicate technical concepts to various stakeholders.
