Job Description

A Civil Foreman plays a critical role in overseeing and managing construction sites. This position is essential in ensuring the smooth execution of civil construction projects by effectively coordinating the workforce and resources. The Civil Foreman must have a strong understanding of construction methodologies, remedial measures, safety regulations, and quality standards. A key responsibility is to supervise the construction crew, ensuring that all work is completed on schedule, within budget, and up to precision standards. Effective communication skills are necessary to liaise between clients, engineers, and workers, providing updates on project progress and addressing any issues that may arise. The ideal candidate should demonstrate leadership qualities, a deep commitment to safety, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.


Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of a team of construction workers daily.
  • Ensure all construction projects adhere to building codes and safety standards strictly.
  • Plan, schedule, and assign tasks according to project requirements and deadlines.
  • Inspect work progress and conduct quality checks on construction activities.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders for effective execution.
  • Monitor and manage project budgets, ensuring expenses are kept within the allocated limits.
  • Address and resolve any issues or challenges that arise on the construction site promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of site operations and prepare regular progress reports as required.
  • Provide training and mentoring to construction workers to enhance their skills and safety knowledge.
  • Ensure the availability and proper use of materials and equipment needed for the project.
  • Implement and enforce safety and security policies to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and inspectors to ensure project completion goals are met efficiently.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional qualifications in construction management are beneficial.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction, with at least 2 in a supervisory role.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction processes, equipment handling, and safety regulations.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively and efficiently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick, effective decisions.
  • Proficiency in using construction management software and other relevant computer applications.
  • Exceptional communication skills to interact with team members and external associates professionally.
