The Chief Engineer - Civil is a senior-level position responsible for overseeing and managing all civil engineering projects and activities within the organization. This role involves leading a team of skilled engineers, providing technical expertise, and ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Chief Engineer - Civil is accountable for developing strategies, setting goals, and monitoring the execution of projects that require extensive knowledge in civil engineering, adherence to safety standards, and regulatory compliance. In addition to technical prowess, this role demands exceptional leadership qualities, communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, clients, and other stakeholders. The position is critical in driving innovation, improving operational efficiencies, and maintaining the organization's reputation for excellence in civil engineering.


Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise civil engineering teams to ensure optimal performance on projects.
  • Develop and implement engineering strategies that align with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the planning, design, and execution of civil engineering projects from inception to completion.
  • Ensure all projects comply with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Manage project budgets, resources, and schedules to ensure timely delivery without compromising quality.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to project teams to solve complex engineering problems.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential challenges in project delivery.
  • Facilitate efficient communication and collaboration among project stakeholders, including clients and contractors.
  • Ensure continuous improvement in engineering processes by adopting best practices and technologies.
  • Review and approve project proposals, plans, and design layouts before execution.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports detailing project progress, challenges, and resolutions for senior management.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and innovation.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline is required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is essential for this role.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in civil engineering with a proven track record.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing large-scale engineering projects successfully.
  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with stakeholders.
