Senior Estimator Job Description

The role of a Senior Estimator is crucial in the planning and execution of construction projects. As a key member of the project team, the Senior Estimator is responsible for calculating the estimated costs of a project, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in all estimates provided. This involves assessing materials, labor, equipment, overheads, and other factors that impact the budget and timeline of the project. The Senior Estimator collaborates closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients to develop competitive and precise bids that align with project specifications. By utilizing their extensive experience and expertise, the Senior Estimator plays a vital role in maintaining the financial health of the company and ensuring profitable project outcomes. Responsibilities

  • Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for construction projects from conceptual to final stages.
  • Analyze project specifications and drawings to determine scope of work required.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotations.
  • Evaluate and quantify labor, material, and equipment requirements for projects.
  • Review historical data to estimate costs and identify potential risks and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with project teams to align estimates with project goals and expectations.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations for management review and client meetings.
  • Conduct post-project analysis to evaluate accuracy of estimates and improve future processes.
  • Maintain an up-to-date database of cost information, trends, and best practices.
  • Stay current with industry developments and regulatory changes affecting construction costs.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of estimating experience in the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and advanced knowledge of MS Office tools.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail for accurate cost assessments.
  • Exceptional communication skills for effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven track record of successful bid awards and project cost management.
  • Understanding of construction methods, codes, and regulations for compliance assurance.
  • Professional certification, such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE), is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with industry best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities to identify cost-effective solutions for projects.
