Job Description

The Automotive Service Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of a service department within a dealership or repair facility. This role ensures high levels of customer satisfaction, efficient workflow, proper staff management, and profitability of service operations. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in automotive service operations, strong leadership skills, and a customer-focused approach to service delivery and operational excellence.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily operations of the service department, including scheduling, workflow, and technician productivity.

  • Lead, mentor, and evaluate service staff including technicians, advisors, and support personnel.

  • Ensure timely and effective communication between service staff and customers regarding diagnostics, repairs, and timelines.

  • Monitor repair orders, ensure accuracy, and verify proper documentation and billing.

  • Maintain and improve service department profitability through effective cost control and upselling services.

  • Oversee parts availability and coordinate with parts department for timely procurement.

  • Handle escalated customer issues and complaints to ensure satisfaction and retention.

  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and cleanliness standards in the service area.

  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as service volume, customer satisfaction, and warranty claim rates.

  • Stay updated with manufacturer guidelines, warranty policies, and technical bulletins.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Automotive Technology, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive service operations, including 2+ years in a supervisory or managerial role.

  • Deep understanding of automotive systems, diagnostics, and service processes.

  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Proficient with dealer management systems (DMS) and service software platforms.

  • Knowledge of warranty claim processing and OEM service standards.

  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
