Areas of Responsibility and Key Tasks Planning, Preparation, Teaching and Lesson Management

  • Foster an environment conducive to outstanding learning and teaching
  • Prepare departmental schemes of learning aligned to topic rotations
  • Plan lessons with clear start/end, engaging AfL strategies, and defined objectives
  • Set challenging tasks with high expectations and clear targets based on prior attainment
  • Identify SEN and high-ability students
  • Maintain structured lessons with pace, motivation, and challenge
  • Use assessment and performance data to inform differentiated planning
  • Maximize effective teaching and class time
  • Promote a productive learning environment with high standards of punctuality, behaviour, and homework
  • Use varied methods: structure content, appropriate vocabulary, effective questioning, addressing misconceptions
  • Use resources and learning technologies to develop study skills
  • Support students in consolidating subject knowledge and skills
  • Reflect critically on teaching effectiveness
  • Use classroom support efficiently

Monitoring, Assessment, Recording, Reporting

  • Evaluate learning outcomes to improve teaching
  • Upload data to departmental trackers promptly
  • Mark and monitor work, setting progress targets
  • Prepare assessments based on allocated schemes
  • Use performance data to plan and ensure progress
  • Systematically assess and record student progress, identifying strengths and areas for development
  • Maintain communication with parents of underperforming students
  • Conduct assessments as required by exams or internal policies
  • Present clear, informative reports to parents

Curriculum Development

  • Contribute to subject/academy initiatives with clear targets and success criteria
  • Support the academys vision and improvement plans

Other Professional Requirements

  • Understand professional duties and legal obligations
  • Operate within academy policies and practices
  • Maintain subject knowledge for effective teaching
  • Set a professional example in conduct and presentation
  • Help all students reach their potential with high expectations
  • Collaborate to share and use resources effectively
  • Participate in meetings and academy systems
  • Support marketing and liaison activities: open evenings, consultations, events
  • Manage own professional development
  • Maintain effective communication with parents

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Education or other relevant field with a teaching qualification.

Minimum Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in teaching Physics up to GCSE and A Level desirable but not essential.

  • Previous experience working with students whom English is not their first language
  • Passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child
  • A high level of professionalism and consideration of the well-being of children
  • Recent and consistent involvement in extra-curricular activities
  • Respect for all members of a school community, irrespective of position, gender, age and ethnic background
  • A positive and solution-focused attitude to working life
  • A clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police check
