Job Description

A Teller, commonly known as a Bank Teller, is an essential front-line employee in banks and financial institutions, responsible for managing cash transactions, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining accurate records. As the face of the bank, Tellers are tasked with building customer relationships and trust through attentive services. They ensure the smooth operation of daily banking activities by handling deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, and account inquiries with precision and confidentiality. Tellers play a critical role in identifying customer needs and recommending banking products that might be beneficial. They are expected to handle all transactions accurately and efficiently, while also following all bank policies and compliance regulations.


Responsibilities

  • Greet customers warmly and assist with a variety of banking transactions.
  • Process routine financial transactions including deposits, withdrawals, and payments.
  • Manage and balance cash drawers at the start and end of each shift.
  • Verify customer identification and signatures to prevent fraudulent activity.
  • Provide accurate and timely information about various banking products and services.
  • Resolve customer issues and complaints with professionalism and patience.
  • Refer customers to appropriate banking personnel for more complex inquiries and needs.
  • Promote bank services and products to enhance customer experience and satisfaction.
  • Follow bank policies and comply with federal banking regulations diligently.
  • Keep work area clean, organized, and secure at all times.
  • Accurate data entry and documentation for all completed banking transactions.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities for performance improvements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent educational qualification is required.
  • Prior experience in banking or financial service is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Proficient in computer applications, specifically related to banking software and systems.
  • Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail for handling transactions accurately.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to handle interpersonal interactions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure bank environment.
  • Strong ethical standards and understanding of confidentiality in handling financial information.
