This role involves both development and maintenance of backend reporting solutions using IBM Cognos. The Cognos Backend Developer will split time between building new data models and backend components, and supporting, optimizing, and troubleshooting existing reports and data sources used in enterprise reporting and analytics.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop new Cognos Framework Manager models, data modules, and queries based on evolving business requirements.
- Maintain and troubleshoot existing Cognos reports, models, and data integrations.
- Collaborate with BI analysts and business stakeholders to gather and interpret reporting needs.
- Optimize SQL queries and data structures to improve report performance and accuracy.
- Ensure continued availability, accuracy, and compliance of reports and dashboards used across the organization.
- Document new developments and updates made to legacy assets for knowledge management and support continuity.
- Participate in change management and support incident resolution as part of day-to-day maintenance.
Qualifications
Qualification:
- 5+ years of experience in Cognos backend development and support.
- Proficiency in IBM Cognos Framework Manager, Report Studio, and advanced query techniques.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, or DB2.
- Experience supporting and enhancing legacy Cognos environments while contributing to new development initiatives.
- Familiarity with version control systems and ticketing tools (e.g., Git, ServiceNow, Jira).
- Nice to have skill(s)
- Experience with ETL tools or data integration (SSIS, Informatica, etc.)
- Exposure to Power BI or other dashboarding platforms
- Transportation & Logistics domain knowledge
