The Opportunity

We are seeking a founding Senior Smart Contract Engineer (EVM) to help architect, implement, and secure our core smart contracts. As one of the earliest engineering hires, you’ll play a critical role in building the infrastructure powering on-chain derivatives at scale.

In this role, you will:

  Design and implement mission-critical smart contracts for the Perpl CLOB and vault system

  
  


• 
  

  Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and quant teams to ensure robustness and capital efficiency

  
  


• 
  

  Define testing, simulation, and on-chain monitoring standards for security and reliability

  
  


• 
  

  Serve as our in-house expert on the EVM, Monad’s unique performance characteristics, and gas optimization

  
  


• 
  

  Own the full lifecycle of smart contract development from design → audit → deployment → upgrade

  
  

Qualifications

Required

• 
  

  3+ years of experience building and maintaining EVM smart contracts in production

  
  


• 
  

  Strong knowledge of Solidity, low-level EVM mechanics, and gas optimization strategies

  
  


• 
  

  Proven ability to work with external auditors and internal security reviews

  
  


• 
  

  Experience designing DeFi protocols or financial primitives (DEXs, AMMs, margin trading, oracles, etc.)

  
  


• 
  

  High agency and ownership mindset—comfortable in a fast-moving, zero-to-one environment

  
  


• 
  

  Passion for decentralized finance and a deep understanding of the DeFi landscape

  
  

Preferred

• 
  

  Familiarity with parallelized EVM architectures

  
  


• 
  

  Experience with Rust or other statically typed languages

  
  


• 
  

  Background in quant trading, HFT, or crypto derivatives

  
  


• 
  

  Understanding of chain infra, monitoring, and validator/client dynamics
