Your Impact

You will be part of the Source AI team and will have the opportunity to develop a deep understanding of the domain/function.

Source AI is a Gen AI-fueled strategic category management platform within the Operations practice. It combines internal and external data with McKinsey’s functional and technological industrial expertise to empower category managers to make informed real-time decisions and unlock new opportunities. It is one of the fastest-growing solutions in McKinsey, offering one-of-a-kind exposure to define the future of procurement powered by AI. The Source AI team works with clients globally to deliver value for procurement functions supported by McKinsey’s extensive expert network.

The team is based out of Gurgaon, Bangalore, and Chennai. You will work closely with consultants and senior leaders serving clients in North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. As a Software Engineer in the Source AI team, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and optimizing AI-driven tools and scalable software solutions.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance the platform, ensuring seamless client deployment, optimal performance, and continuous upgrades tailored to client needs. In this role, you will lead the development of innovative functionalities by integrating advanced technologies to address client requirements, while collaborating with practice leaders and experts across regions to drive continuous improvement of the solution. Additionally, you will engage with external market solutions to establish partnerships that create mutual value. As you progress in the role, you will mentor junior engineers on software development, AI integration, and delivering impactful solutions for clients.

Your Qualifications and Skills

• 4+ years of experience in developing and deploying scalable cloud-native applications
• Expertise in AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, ECS/EKS, API Gateway) for secure, fault-tolerant architectures
• Proficient in backend development with Node.js and Python, building RESTful APIs and microservices
• Advanced skills in Snowflake for data modeling, pipelines, performance tuning, and security
• Experience in setting up CI/CD pipelines and automating testing, deployment, and monitoring
• Skilled in integrating AI/ML workflows using AWS services like Bedrock and SageMaker
• Frontend development experience with React.js or Angular for seamless user interfaces
• Strong ability to optimize workloads for performance and cost using AWS tools
• Knowledge of secure architectures aligned with SOC2, ISO27001, and GDPR compliance
• Experienced in code reviews, cross-functional collaboration, and maintaining code quality
• Ability to mentor junior developers and improve development processes
• Expertise in serverless, containerized workloads (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure-as-code tools
