Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Officer to join our team. As a Safety Officer, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining a safe working environment for all employees by ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) guidelines. Your primary focus will be on preventing accidents, identifying potential hazards, training staff, and implementing safety procedures. The ideal candidate will have excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach to safety management. You will work closely with all departments to ensure a culture of safety is embedded within the organization and help to reduce workplace accidents and health problems.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and enforce safety guidelines to prevent workplace accidents and injuries.
  • Conduct regular health and safety audits and inspections across all work areas.
  • Identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • Coordinate and lead safety training programs for employees and management staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations and standards.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records of incidents and safety-related reports.
  • Facilitate the investigation of accident and incident reports for complete analysis.
  • Collaborate with department heads to establish safety improvement initiatives.
  • Promote a safety-first mindset and culture throughout the entire workforce.
  • Prepare monthly and annual health and safety performance reports for management.
  • Manage the maintenance and functionality of all safety equipment and gear.
  • Review and update safety policies and procedures in response to new legislation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Safety Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Safety Officer or a similar safety role.
  • Excellent knowledge of safety management plans and health regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills for safety audits and incident investigations.
  • Exceptional communication skills to provide safety training sessions effectively.
  • Certification in occupational health and safety practices is highly desirable.
  • Ability to handle stress and work in a fast-paced environment efficiently.
