We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Wind Resource Assessment Engineer for GMR Renewables with 12–15 years of relevant experience to lead, drive and manage wind resource analysis for utility-scale wind power projects. The ideal candidate will play a key role in project site selection, wind farm design optimization, energy yield estimation, and due diligence for wind projects at various development stages for the project life cycle.

Key Accountabilities
AccountabilitiesKey Performance IndicatorsMet Mast installation, Wind Data Collection & Validation
Installation, maintenance, management, and performance of met masts and LiDAR/SODAR systems.
Conduct QA/QC and validation of wind measurement data
Ensure 100% on-time installation of met masts and LiDAR SODAR systems.
Complete quarterly preventive maintenance for 100% of systems.
Validate and QA/QC 100% of wind data within 5 working days of download.
Wind Resource Analysis
Analyze wind speed, direction, turbulence, shear, and seasonal variation using industry-standard tools (e.g., WindPRO, WAsP, OpenWind, WindFarmer).
Perform long-term wind data correlation using satellite datasets, data corelation and onsite measurements.
Complete wind flow analysis reports within 10 working days of data availability for 100% of sites.
Perform long-term wind data correlation using at least two reference datasets for 100% of projects.
Ensure analysis accuracy within ±5% deviation from validated site performance benchmarks.

Conduct energy production assessments (P50, P75, P90) and uncertainty analysis.
Generate comprehensive pre-construction energy yield reports for internal approvals and external investors/lenders.
Deliver 100% of P50/P75/P90 energy yield assessments within 7 working days of wind analysis completion.
Maintain <10% total uncertainty in energy yield assessments, aligned with industry benchmarks.
Submit complete pre-construction energy yield reports for 100% of projects before internal/external review deadlines.
Wind Farm Layout Design
Microsite & Optimize turbine layout based on terrain, wind flow modeling, wake loss, and micro siting studies.
Collaborate with OEMs and site teams for turbine selection and placement.
Carry out turbine suitability study
Finalize optimized turbine layout for 100% sites within 10 working days post wind flow analysis.
Ensure wake loss ≤10% in all proposed layouts through validated modeling tools.
Complete turbine suitability assessment and alignment with OEMs for 100% of proposed sites.
Project Feasibility & Due Diligence
Support project development teams in assessing technical feasibility and bankability of potential sites.
Conduct third-party technical due diligence and review of external energy yield reports.
Carry our operational re-forecast for operational projects
Prepare Independent Energy Yield Assessment report
Complete technical feasibility assessments for 100% of proposed sites within 7 working days of request.
Review and validate 100% of third-party energy yield reports within 5 working days of receipt.
Deliver independent energy yield or re-forecast reports for 100% operational projects on a quarterly basis.
Cross-Functional Support
Work closely with permitting, grid, construction, and commercial teams to align technical studies with overall project timelines
Participate in 100% of cross-functional project planning meetings as scheduled.
Align and integrate technical inputs into project timelines within 3 working days of request.
Ensure zero delays in permitting, grid, or construction activities due to pending wind resource deliverable.
EXTERNAL INTERACTIONS
Stakeholders in Renewable space (Government agencies and private players, Regulatory bodies etc.
INTERNAL INTERACTIONS
CBO, Lead Design & Er. (Wind & Solar) ;Functions and Departments W/I Renewables. Project development and execution teams.

Education Qualifications
B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Renewable Energy, or related field. M.Tech/MS in Wind Energy or Atmospheric Science is preferred.
Technical Proficiency: Advanced user of wind modelling tools (WindPRO, WAsP, CFD tools, WindFarmer, etc.);
Familiar with GIS tools and meteorological data processing.
Relevant Experience
12–15 years in wind resource assessment, preferably with an IPP, OEM, renewable energy developer, or technical consultant.
Experience with offshore wind resource assessment (if applicable).
Familiarity with hybrid (wind-solar-storage) modeling and co-location analysis.
