Job Description

The role of a Store Assistant is pivotal in creating a welcoming atmosphere for customers and ensuring the smooth operation of retail activities. You will be the face of the store, providing excellent customer service, assisting clients with their queries, and helping them find the products they need. Additionally, the Store Assistant is responsible for maintaining an organized and attractive store environment, which in turn enhances the shopping experience. This position requires strong communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work well under pressure. You will be engaged in various tasks, from shelving products to handling transactions, which will ensure the store remains efficient and customer-friendly.


Responsibilities

  • Welcome and assist customers promptly with their purchasing decisions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of sales floor and shelves.
  • Operate point of sale systems accurately for transactions and returns.
  • Assist in stock management, including restocking shelves and inventory counts.
  • Provide information on store promotions, products, and services to customers.
  • Resolve customer complaints and inquiries efficiently and professionally.
  • Support visual merchandising efforts to keep the store attractive to customers.
  • Help in unloading and organizing deliveries to ensure stock availability.
  • Monitor and ensure the security of the store by identifying potential risks.
  • Contribute to team meetings and assist in general store improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in training new staff members as directed by store management.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the store premises.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent educational qualification is required.
  • Previous experience in retail or customer service is strongly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with customers effectively.
  • Ability to handle cash transactions and operate POS systems accurately.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in managing store layout.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Physical ability to perform manual tasks such as lifting and stocking.
