About The Opportunity

The India Restart Program is designed to bridge the skill gap for individuals re-entering the workforce after a career break of 2 years or more. The program empowers participants to rebuild confidence, refresh their capabilities, and thrive in technology careers through targeted upskilling and support.

• For individuals eager to restart their careers after a break of 2 years or more.
• An immersive six-month program providing an opportunity to work on technology teams with a designed project plan.
• All participants are paired with a dedicated mentor to ensure guidance throughout the program.
• To maximise learning and collaboration, this program requires being in our Bengaluru office.
• A stipend of INR 50,000 is provided every month for the onboarded candidate.
• Option for full-time conversion based on performance and business requirements at the conclusion of the program.
  
  

The Ellucian Information Development team is looking for a ReStart Consultant for the role of a Technical Writer within the Information Development team.

The Information Development team plays a vital role in ensuring that Ellucian products are clearly described in documentation thats accurate and useful.

As a ReStart Consultant - Technical Writer, you will be guided in our Information Development team best practices, documentation and publishing processes, deliverable quality standards, and the end to end process of creating customer-facing product documentation in accordance with Ellucian guidelines.

The successful candidate will have opportunities in one or more of these aspects of user documentation:

• Help maintain and/or create high-quality technical documentation for Ellucian’s products.
• Participate in content source format conversion effort for modernization of existing documentation sets, applying latest content standards and improving on the quality.
• Work with product teams and mentors to learn about the product through hands-on work while studying new product features in development.
• Research and collect product feature information through interviewing Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), developers and other technical personnel, researching written material, and attending product demonstrations.
• Develop methods to transform data into easy-to-understand, user-friendly written documentation.
• Review and gather feedback from clients and other stakeholders to create highly usable, robust information to support users
• Review and test software and hardware for accuracy and consistency with documentation, identifying problems and suggesting revisions
• Create graphical images, flow charts, and diagrams for inclusion in documentation
• Research the information needs of software development projects to determine the best approach for developing content
• Plan and develop documentation deliverables for at least one project, often under tight deadlines
  
  

Requirements

• Demonstrated effective written (English language) and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to understand technical terms and basic software development processes
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to be part of a team and contribute to a team goal
• Awareness and basic understanding of markup languages, such as HTML or XML
• Candidates will be asked to submit recent high-quality writing examples, preferably task-based content for a technical audience, and take online assessments in language and basic technical aptitude
  
  

Desired Skills/knowledge/experience

• Prior experience within the software product industry might help, though not a mandatory requirement
• Basic knowledge of documentation for software applications
• Awareness of SaaS vs On-Premise
• Ability to work with common AI tools and demonstrate basic prompting techniques
• Awareness of Agile methodology
• Understanding of the concept of minimalism as applied to product documentation
• Awareness of XML/DITA and structured authoring methodology
• Working knowledge of mixed media, such as graphics
