The Industry Immersion Fellowship at Volvo Group is a unique program that enables university faculty and post-doctoral researchers to gain hands-on industry experience by working full-time with our technical team at Volvogroup.

Problem

• Aluminium melting relies on fossil fuels (Furnace Oil, LPG, CNG, PNG).
• Electric melting methods (resistance/induction heating) have low output (~500 Kg/hr).
  
  

Outcome

• Transition to fossil-free Aluminium melting technologies.
• Achieve high-output melting capacity (≥1.5 Ton/hr).
• Reduce carbon footprint and improve energy efficiency.
  
  

Idea

• Clean Fuel-Based Melting:
• Explore hydrogen or other clean fuels for melting.
• Assess feasibility and integration into foundry setups.
• High-Output Electric Melting:
• Develop advanced electric melting systems.
• Focus on throughput, energy efficiency, and compatibility.
• Eligibility Criteria:Ph.D Pursuing / Ph.D Completed Research Scholars.
