Position Requirements
Must Have:
Deep understanding of US healthcare ecosystem, including both payer and provider domains, healthcare operations, and regulatory requirements
Experience with healthcare data standards (especially FHIR), a strong grasp of the US healthcare ecosystem (Payor and Provider domains), with extensive experience as a data modeler or architect in a healthcare environment with deep knowledge of healthcare datasets—EHR, claims, HL7v2/v3, CDA, X12, and especially FHIR
Lead the design, development, and implementation of healthcare data models supporting interoperability and analytics across payor and provider platforms.
Advise and collaborate closely with engineering, product, and clinical teams to ensure technical solutions meet regulatory, operational, and user requirements.
Serve as the Subject matter expert on FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources), champion data standardization, and guide mapping of healthcare data elements (claims, clinical, administrative) to FHIR and other relevant models.
Evaluate existing data workflows, identify gaps, and propose robust modeling solutions to maximize data quality, integration, and usability.
Lead the design and evolution of interoperable healthcare data models, ensuring alignment with FHIR and industry best practices.
Experience collaborating with business, technology, and clinical leaders to translate requirements into scalable data architectures.
Analyze data-related system integration challenges and propose appropriate solutions.
Identify the architecture, infrastructure, and interfaces to data sources, tools supporting automated data loads, security concerns, analytic models, and data visualization.
Work with business and solution teams to implement data strategies, build data flows, and develop conceptual/logical/physical data models
Work proactively and independently to address project requirements and articulate issues/challenges to reduce project delivery risks.
Hands on experience of working in the Cloud technologies – AWS/Azure/GCP
End to end data and analytics solutions design experience using cloud technologies- AWS S3, Spark, EMR, Data bricks, MPP databases, Redshift/Snowflake right from Ingestion to Transformation to Consumption using various methods including API delivery or similar knowledge in alternate cloud services
Strong skills in SQL, SQL Procedure builds
Strong skills in analyzing Data Warehouse performance issues and resolutions using various methods/ techniques
Strong analytical skills and troubleshooting skills
Excellent communication skills
Ability to adapt quickly to an existing, complex environment and learn new concepts and software
Self-motivated, independent, detail oriented, responsible team player and exhibit exceptional relationship management skills
Act as a FHIR Subject Matter Expert (SME), mentoring team members and driving adoption of modern data standards
Good analytical & problem-solving skills
Strong Data modeling skills utilizing one of the industry leading tools like ER/Studio, Erwin Data Modeler, Oracle SQL Developer etc.
Strong knowledge and experience in SQL and SQL procedures for data analysis, extraction and manipulation
Strong experience in Database SQL tuning and performance improvement
Desired Knowledge / Skills
Hands on experience of working in the Cloud technologies – AWS/Azure/GCP
