The Technology Delivery and Operations, Pharma IT Leader, is accountable for the delivery of all Pharmaceuticals Segment-based applications that enable our Segment teams to grow their market while meeting their profitability objectives.  In this leadership role, you will manage a mixed model of internal resources and external partners to support as well as create new applications to maintain and grow our business.  The leader will be accountable for the delivery of differentiating technology capabilities of a Segment across different domains such as sales, marketing, customer service, manufacturing, digital product platforms, and other functions as required for differentiation in a Pharmaceuticals Segment

The role is a part of the Pharma IT leadership team and will be a peer to Pharma IT business relationship managers and our Segment solution and product management team, while working with corporate IT functions that own enterprise platforms and applications.  The role will need to help bring balance by ensuring that we utilize Segment-specific development only when delivering Segment-specific and differentiating capabilities while advocating for enterprise products and platforms when differentiation doesn’t create business value.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the delivery of Segment-specific solutions and capabilities that are not part of the product portfolio or enterprise platforms and applications.
  • Accountable for budget management of all Segment-specific projects and application support (both internal and external) for Segment applications not managed as a platform service or enterprise application.
  • Responsible for the optimization of the delivery model for new development in the Segment.
  • Owns the solution design and architecture for all Segment-specific applications.
  • Continually pursues the rationalization of applications with redundant capabilities and finds the right balance of Segment application needs versus features in global products and platforms, working across Segment product owners and enterprise technology leaders to make that determination.
  • Works with the centralized IT-sponsored strategic vendor management team to provide constant input into vendor reviews and strategic vendor discussions to optimize the value we receive from our primary vendor relationship. Active participant and influencer in our operational and QBR meetings with our primary support partner.
  • Well informed about the relationships of our software vendors and accountable for secondary managed service providers not managed centrally and are particular to the assigned Segment.
  • Manages a team of internal and external resources in support of the above activities.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Strong foundations of the pharmaceutical industry – small molecules and formulation (R&D, manufacturing, quality, GxP norms,)
  • Sound working knowledge of Pharma IT ecosystem at enterprise and plant-levels (incl. LIMS and MES)
  • 10+ years of experience in managing third-party IT providers.
  • 10+ years of experience managing people.
  • Prior responsibility with +$2 million/year capital products/projects
  • Technical Acumen to convey and collaborate around the development of the desired functionality particularly with cloud applications.
  • Strong understanding and working experience with Agile approach and culture.
  • Ability to work with multiple geographies in a multicultural environment
  • Excellent customer-facing written and oral communications skills.
  • Ability and maturity to communicate and manage stakeholders up to the highest levels of the organization globally, regionally and locally
  • Excellent Functional Process Knowledge/Business Acumen for their subject matter area
