Job Description

An Inventory Control Specialist plays a critical role in managing and optimizing a company's inventory systems. This position is key to ensuring that inventory levels are maintained at an optimal level for efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The specialist is responsible for tracking inventory movements, managing discrepancies, and implementing effective inventory control processes to support the overall business operations. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills, who can collaborate with various departments to forecast inventory needs and establish inventory metrics and reporting. Additionally, the Inventory Control Specialist uses technology and systems to enhance inventory accuracy and productivity, ensuring the company's inventory assets are protected and accurately represented in the inventory management system.


Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits to maintain accuracy and identify discrepancies.
  • Develop and implement efficient inventory management procedures and policies.
  • Coordinate with procurement and sales teams to forecast future inventory needs.
  • Utilize inventory management software to track and record inventory data.
  • Report discrepancies and communicate effectively with the finance team for resolutions.
  • Analyze inventory trends and make recommendations for process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards in inventory practices.
  • Assist in training staff on inventory procedures and software systems.
  • Implement strategies to reduce excess inventory and minimize waste and shrinkage.
  • Collaborate with supply chain teams to ensure smooth inventory transitions.
  • Prepare detailed inventory reports for management to aid in decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in inventory control or a related area.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Excel is essential.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with various departments.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of inventory management best practices and regulatory requirements.
