Job Description

A Warehouse Assistant plays a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of a warehouse, ensuring that all goods are stored, logged, and managed efficiently. This role involves physical work, including loading and unloading shipments and organizing inventory in the warehouse space. The Warehouse Assistant must be diligent, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently or as part of a team. Strong communication skills are also essential as the role often requires coordination with other departments, suppliers, and logistics companies. The ideal candidate will have experience in warehouse operations, inventory control, and be comfortable using relevant technology such as warehouse management systems. Safety is paramount in this role, so a keen knowledge of safety protocols and procedures is necessary.


Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and accurately log incoming shipments and deliveries.
  • Pick, pack, and prepare orders for dispatch to various destinations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment at all times.
  • Operate warehouse machinery such as forklifts and pallet jacks safely.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and inventory checks to ensure accuracy.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and management to report issues.
  • Ensure that all safety procedures and guidelines are strictly followed.
  • Assist in loading and unloading goods from trucks and delivery vehicles.
  • Coordinate with logistics providers and carriers for freight scheduling.
  • Manage stockroom activities including stocking shelves and label products.
  • Update and maintain records of all warehouse activity and transactions.
  • Help in the continuous improvement of warehouse processes and operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification is required.
  • Prior experience working in a warehouse or industrial setting preferred.
  • Proficiency in operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment.
  • Strong physical endurance with the ability to lift heavy items reliably.
  • Keen attention to detail and organizational skills are essential.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of inventory management software.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities are essential for this role.
