Job Description

As a Chinese Chef, you will immerse yourself in the culinary traditions and flavors that make Chinese cuisine one of the most cherished in the world. The role demands a deep understanding of Chinese cooking techniques, ingredients, and presentation styles. You will have the opportunity to express your culinary artistry and contribute authentically to the dining experiences offered. You will be a key player in the kitchen, responsible for preparing a variety of iconic Chinese dishes with precision and creativity, while maintaining high standards of quality and hygiene. Collaboration with a team of sous chefs and kitchen staff will be essential to ensure smooth operation and an optimal dining experience for guests.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook traditional and contemporary Chinese dishes with precision.
  • Manage the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring efficiency and quality.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to procure fresh and high-quality ingredients regularly.
  • Innovate new culinary creations that reflect modern trends and customer preferences.
  • Train and supervise kitchen staff to achieve high culinary standards and productivity.
  • Establish and maintain strict health, hygiene, and safety standards in the kitchen.
  • Review menu offerings regularly, suggesting changes to improve variety and presentation.
  • Oversee portion and cost controls to maximize profitability without compromising quality.
  • Collaborate with other chefs and kitchen staff to ensure harmonious workflow and operations.
  • Evaluate and solve any issues that arise in the kitchen, ensuring minimal disruption.
  • Engage with customers to gather feedback and ensure satisfaction with menu offerings.
  • Handle equipment and kitchen tools with skill, ensuring maintenance and safe operation.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Chinese Chef or in a similar capacity within a kitchen environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of various Chinese culinary styles, including Cantonese and Sichuan.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines with consistent quality.
  • Strong understanding of ingredient selection and balance for authentic Chinese flavors.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills to inspire and manage kitchen staff.
  • Certification from a culinary school or relevant hospitality training is advantageous.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by business needs.
