Job Description

A Manual Tester plays a critical role in the software development lifecycle by ensuring that all software products meet quality standards before they are released to users. This role involves working closely with the development team to understand the functionalities and specifications of the software. The Manual Tester executes test cases without the aid of automation tools, identifying bugs, documenting their findings, and collaborating with developers to achieve a defect-free product. The candidate should possess sharp attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to think like an end-user. The Manual Tester must also be adaptable, capable of handling multiple projects, and comfortable with fast-paced and dynamic environments in order to ensure product reliability and user satisfaction.


Responsibilities

  • Design and execute test plans and test cases for software products.
  • Collaborate with software developers and project managers to understand project requirements.
  • Identify, document, and track software bugs and defects in issue tracking systems.
  • Perform thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved to ensure issue resolution.
  • Conduct tests on a variety of web, mobile, and desktop applications.
  • Review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely feedback.
  • Participate in release planning sessions to determine testing scope and schedule.
  • Coordinate testing activities across multiple projects and ensure timely delivery.
  • Develop and apply testing processes and best practices to enhance quality assurance.
  • Provide test status updates and test result summaries to stakeholders.
  • Perform manual and exploratory testing to ensure complete coverage.
  • Stay up-to-date with new testing tools and strategies to improve testing efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Manual Tester in software development projects.
  • Familiarity with the software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to report findings effectively.
  • Basic understanding of SQL and the ability to write simple database queries.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Experience with test management and defect tracking tools such as JIRA.
  • Knowledge of various operating systems and browser environments for testing.
  • Certification in software testing (e.g., ISTQB) is an advantage but not required.
