Health Care Assistant (225-731)

A Health Care Assistant plays a critical role in supporting the healthcare team by providing essential support to patients and assisting with their daily needs. In this role, you will be at the forefront of patient care, ensuring their comfort, safety, and wellbeing. You will work directly with patients to assist with various tasks, ranging from personal care to logistic support during medical procedures. Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing and feeding.
• Monitor and record patients' vital signs, reporting any significant changes.
• Provide support to nursing staff during medical procedures and exams.
• Ensure patient care areas are clean, organized, and well-maintained.
• Transport patients safely using a wheelchair or other mobility aids.
• Assist in the preparation and serving of meals to patients.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with healthcare regulations.
• Help apply and change dressings, under the direction of healthcare professionals.
• Support patients in administering medications under supervision of registered nurses.
• Encourage and assist patients to mobilize and perform exercises as instructed.
• Document patient care activities thoroughly and accurately for medical records.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; certification as a healthcare assistant preferred.
• Prior experience in a healthcare setting or similar role highly valuable.
• Standard health and CPR certification to ensure safety in emergency situations.
• Strong communication skills to interact compassionately with patients and team.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Physical stamina and strength to assist patients and perform physical tasks.
• Compassionate, empathetic nature with a strong desire to support patient care.
