A Category Manager is a strategic and vital role responsible for overseeing a specific category of products or services within an organization. This position involves developing and implementing category strategies to maximize sales, profitability, and overall market presence. The Category Manager collaborates with various departments such as marketing, sales, and supply chain to ensure that the category meets the company's objectives and aligns with consumer demand. They are tasked with analyzing market trends, consumer behavior, and competitor activity to make informed decisions regarding product assortment, pricing, promotions, and inventory management. The ultimate goal of a Category Manager is to drive growth and innovation within their assigned category while maintaining the company's competitive edge.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute category strategies to enhance market share and profitability.

  • Collaborate with suppliers and negotiate contracts to ensure favorable terms and conditions.

  • Lead and mentor junior staff in category management best practices and strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in category management or a similar strategic role.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data effectively.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills with a focus on results.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
